Top 6 worst Vintie profiles: the dark side of Vinted

Unfortunately, Vinted isn't all fun and games. There are even a few mishaps to be expected with certain Vinties and Vintis.

Here are the top 5 worst profiles you can come across, the ones to avoid at all costs.

Number 6: The "ghost" Vintie profile: he/she publishes articles but doesn't send them out

Vintie

Who hasn't come across this profile? You know the one that publishes a really interesting article. The one you buy quickly, almost as soon as it's published, and then it's gone.

Nada.

The emptiness of space.

No slip download, no explanation, no response.

You even tried to say it was for a present. Just to make the person feel a little guilty.

There's nothing you can do about it. You have to mourn the loss of this bargain. For the most irritated, you still have the option of a negative comment. Because yeah, these profiles are definitely very annoying.

Number 5: The Vintie "Pinocchio" profile: the description of the item is misleading and states that it is in very good condition, whereas the item is stained, torn, damaged and has been worn a lot.

Vintie

You hesitated for a while before buying this item because it wasn't cheap and the photos gave you some doubts. But the description of the item helped you make up your mind: "item in very good condition, little worn, like new".

You said to yourself, "OK, the item just needs to be a bit creased, so I'll buy it.

This is where the long wait for delivery begins. Usually 1 week. Then comes the long-awaited moment "Your parcel is waiting for you in your Point Relais".. Hallelujah.

You rush out to get it and open it with alacrity. And then the drama begins.

Not only is the item 'creased', it's also a long way from the 'as new' condition mentioned in the description. When I say "a long way", I mean that we're about 100 km away from an item in very good condition.

Huge disappointment.

You decide to send a message to the seller to express your dissatisfaction. Of course, if he/she sticks to his/her guns, you will be obliged to suspend the transaction in order to return the goods. the article on disappointment at your own expense.

You can also try to negotiate a discount commensurate with your disappointment outside the platform. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and it wasn't you who did it.

Number 4: the Vintie "gangster" profile (the Vinted scammer): he/she sells us counterfeit goods without any shame whatsoever

Vintie

Now we're starting to get into the upper echelons of the worst Vinted profiles. Fortunately, they're rare.

Examples of profiles that try to sell counterfeits include :

  • Sellers of branded shoes "made in China" when the original shoes are made in Vietnam.
  • Profiles that try to sell imitations of major brand items. Sometimes it's so crude that the logo and model are so far removed from the original item. Even so, some people get caught. See this article to detect counterfeits.
  • Sellers who sell products without the brand label or with the composition label cut off. This does not necessarily mean that they are counterfeit products, but be careful all the same. To use common sense, always ask yourself why an item sold as new (and at new prices) is sold without its labels. Ask as many questions as you need to make sure you're making a good purchase and not buying a counterfeit.

Number 3: the Vintie "stone wall" profile: he/she drops a "vu" on messages, never replies and refuses price offers without ever making a counter-offer.

Vintie

This one is very similar to the phantom profile, but with a few nuances. This is one of the inflexibleand hard as a rockand rigid.

Here, the seller never replies but systematically refuses all your offers, even those that seem more than reasonable. The "vu" below your messages remains bitter.

You don't understand and neither do I. Since he/she doesn't want to do business, then bye.

Number 2: The "dishonest" Vintie profile: he/she combines all the faults of the other profiles above, with the added bonus of being deceitful.

Vintie

Le top 2 of this ranking goes to dishonest profiles and there are several types:

  • The seller who says he/she sent the item when he/she did not.
  • People who ask to reserve an article and then don't reply after 5 days, even though you had plenty of favourites.
  • People who steal photos from other sellers.
  • Buyers who give totally unjustified negative reviews with the aim of causing harm.
  • Fake accounts that also steal photos from other sellers and disappear as soon as an item is sold.
  • Buyer profiles that systematically look for micro-defects or even damage an item in order to obtain a refund.
  • Profiles that insult gratuitously and think that nastiness is a quality.

Number 1: the "bad flirt" Vintie profile: he thinks that vinted is a place to meet people and, for the worst of them, an opportunity for voyeurism.

Vintie

We finish with a profile that makes us uncomfortable. So much so that we're going to give it the top 6 award.

He can send an open, almost flattering, flirtatious message and ask us to take a photo of our bra or pants.

There are the heavyweights who insist and who are not afraid of the cold, and there are the indiscreet secret admirers. It's a good thing the 'report' function exists, isn't it?

One piece of advice that applies to Vinted and beyond is never to forget that the photos you publish of yourself can unfortunately be misappropriated. And on Vinted, we don't necessarily pay attention to our image because we just want to sell our article and we don't think anything's wrong by publishing a photo of ourselves in a mini-skirt or knickers. To be on the safe side, we publish photos of ourselves but without showing our faces...

If you too have had any bad encounters with Vinted, feel free to share them in the comments 🙂

Here's more info on the Vinted kitty scam which takes place in March 2023 with several profiles having had their Vinted accounts transferred to foreign accounts.
